Hi y'all! As promised, I'm sharing my first time experiencing Deep Ellum's nightlife via the Dallas Observer Music Awards Showcase.
I brought my sister to the Showcase, and I think I can safely say for the both of us that we had a ton of fun! Neither of us had been out in the area before, so we weren't too sure what to expect. Luckily, the DO Music Awards was the PERFECT way for us to get a feel for the area! We barhopped down Elm Street all night and got to listen to some awesome local bands. As you scroll down, you'll see a few photos of my favorite bands and venues.
But first and foremost (because if you haven't already noticed, food is a very important subject in all my posts), I wanted to share the food samples we got at Trees from Pollo Tropical! For some reason I always thought this restaurant served Mexican food, but they actually specialize in Caribbean cuisine. And it's DELICIOUS! I will definitely be heading over there for more of their curry mustard sauce.
Now on to the good stuff! Here are some shots from the Showcase:
One of my go-to beers, Revolver Blood and Honey, at Club Dada!
My favorite band of the night, The Azalea Project, an indie rock band from Booker T. Washington!
The Outfit TX performing at Trees.
My favorite venue of the night, Off the Record! This place had a nice and chill atmosphere, complete with a selection of vinyls available for purchase.
I loved the decorations at Three Links,
And the twinkling lights strung along the walls and ceiling.

Another artist I wanted to give a shoutout to but was not pictured above is Sudie! She has a unique music style unlike anything I've heard. You can give her music a listen here. She is nominated for a few different awards so best of luck to her! The Awards Ceremony is tonight (December 9) at the Bomb Factory, starting at 8pm. It is completely free and open to the public (as long as you are 18+).
I had a blast at the showcase and can't wait until next year! If any of y'all made it out to the event, what were your favorite bands? Comment below! I'd love to hear y'all's opinions and give a listen to the bands I missed.
