BrainDead Brewing

BrainDead Brewing has been on my list of places to try for forever now, and after moving to the Deep Ellum area, within walking distance to BrainDead, it was of course, one of the first spots I had to hit up. I heard a lot of great things about this restaurant and brewery, so my expectations were extremely high going in.

As you walk in, you'll notice an open space with plenty of seating both for small and large groups, or if you're riding solo, there is seating at the bar. We grabbed a table in the bar area and took a look at the menu. It was both of our first times there, and we were a bit overwhelmed by the eclectic and creative menu options that they have to offer. With the help of Yelp, we were able to make some great choices. Here they are:

Charred Octopus Ceviche
We loved the banana chips and the pop of color from the watermelon radish!

Coma Burger
The Coma Burger is known as one of D Magazine's Best Burgers in Dallas. While I thought the burger was good, there are a couple burgers out there that I enjoy more than this one. The bun came a little soggy, but the patty was amazing. It was soft, fluffy, and full of flavor. I had also wished that the potato chips were crispy. They were sadly soggy as well.

There are a number of BrainDead beers, but unfortunately during our visit, there were none available. We opted for other local craft beers they have on draft.

The bottomline:
Food is so-so.
They have a lengthy list of beers on draft from other local breweries.
Service was subpar.

It may be worth it if you're wanting to go for the experience, but if you're wanting good food and beer, there are plenty of other options in Dallas. Maybe you'll find a post with the options we prefer soon? Comment and let us know if this is something y'all would like to see!
