A few weeks ago I drove passed Uptown Urban Market, and it immediately caught my eye. It's only a couple blocks down from my office, so I was excited to explore the newest culinary venture in the area. As it turns out, it's an awesome place for a work day lunch break.
The establishment is actually the first 'Food Hall' in Dallas! Food halls have been sprouting up in all the major cities in the country. Essentially, they are an upscale food court. Uptown Urban Market features local chefs and restaurants including:
The Cupboard by Tiffany Derry
Yama Sushi by The Cupboard
The Hot Counter
The Ill Minster
I ended up grabbing lunch at The Cupboard the other week and had a wonderful experience. The food is healthy, tasty, and super convenient. They offer a wide variety of freshly made soups, salads, wraps, sandwiches, sushi rolls, and my personal favorite, poke bowls. The Cupboard also carries local artisan goods to satisfy any craving.
Salmon Poke Bowl
If you've never had a poke bowl - think Chipotle burrito bowl but for SUSHI! I had a poke bowl for the first time last month while I was in LA, and I've been on the hunt for good poke bowls in Dallas since then. As you can imagine, I was ecstatic when I saw that they offered poke bowls at The Cupboard. The bowl has a layer of rice and is topped with salmon, seaweed, crab meat, ginger, avocado, and fried garlic. Talk about a flavor explosion!
Roast Beef Wrap
Roast beef, arugula, cheddar, and a horseradish sauce. Y'all the sauce is everything. Get this if you're looking for something quick and delicious.
